JOY / HOPE

Junior Orthodox Youth & Holy Orthodox Preschool Education

Children ages 4 to 12 are welcome. Both groups meet on the first Wednesday of every month from 4:30-6:00pm. While one group meets with Father Phil for religious instruction, the other group meets to do a project together and have a light supper. Parents are encouraged to stay and help supervise, but it is not necessary.

GOYA

Greek Orthodox Youth Association

Greek Orthodox Youth Association is currently our oldest group youth group. It is comprised of teenagers. Under an adult advisor, they elect officers, plan events and activities. While learning about their faith, youth participate in community events and donate their time to the parish when possible. Please contact Angela Armstrong for more information.

Dance Groups

We are very fortunate to have some fantastic dance instructors! Ages 3 and up are welcome to join. Groups perform at our annual food festivals and at various church and AHEPA events throughout the year. While you do not have to be Greek to participate, you must be an active parish member and attend Sunday School regularly in order to join. There is an adult group as well. Please contact Patty Perikly for more information.

Sunday School

Children do not have to be Orthodox to participate in Sunday School. If you are visiting the area, your children are welcome to attend. Classes meet every Sunday from Labor Day through Memorial Day after Holy Communion. During Liturgy, the children are allowed to receive Holy Communion before the rest of the congregation, then they leave for class. After class, children meet their parents in our beautiful community center for coffee hour.

We have an excellent educational program at St. Katherine and use the Arch Diocese textbooks. These texts contain color photos and fun activities and are written at grade level. Children may keep their books at the end of the year for future reference.
