Parish Council

“The Parish Council is responsible to the Parish Community and to the respective Hierarch for conducting all Parish affairs in keeping with the mission, aims and purposes of the Orthodox Church as set forth in the Uniform Parish Regulations” - Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America.

St. Katherine’s Parish Council is first and foremost a ministry of the Church. Through the guidance of our Parish priest, Orthodox Christians who participate in this ministry are called to represent the Church and the Orthodox Christian Faith with humility and love imitating Christ who came to serve and give His life for the world.

As elected leaders of the parish, members of this ministry work together as well as with other ministry leaders in the church to create a healthy parish culture. Ongoing self-examination as a council, and continuing evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of parish ministries are a critical component of a parish council’s work. Though their time often involves business and financial decision making for the good of the parish, decisions are grounded and guided by the Mission & Vision of the parish.

Parish Council members are not necessarily those who are the most business-oriented, but rather, those who are prayerful, Church-oriented, Christ-centered, faithful followers of the Lord who actively participates in the worship and sacramental life of the Church.

Council Members: Each Parish Council member must be a parishioner in good standing of the Parish for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the date of the election, (having filled out and submitted a Stewardship Commitment form for the year) and must live his or her life in accordance with the Orthodox Faith and canons of the Orthodox Church. Parish Council members are elected by fellow parishioners at elections in December to serve for the number of years as set forth in the By-Laws of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. Offices of Parish Council are: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Asst. Treasurer, and Secretary.
